Q: Why have your ducts cleaned?
A: Duct cleaning refers to the cleaning of forced air distribution systems.
These include the supply and return air ducts, registers, grilles, heat exchangers, heating and cooling coils, fan motor and fan housing.
These components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen and other debris.
This contamination compromises your indoor air quality (IAQ) and can result in related health concerns.

Q: How often should I clean my duct work?
A: As per industry guidelines, every 2-3 years would prove sufficient unless someone in your household suffers from allergies, asthma or other related respiratory illnesses.
You may choose to have cleaning done more frequently in these cases.
The frequency will also depend upon the location of your home (busy street or quiet neighbourhood), whether you have central air conditioning, and how effective your air filtration system is (standard air filters 3-6 % or an electronic air cleaner 90+ %).
The furnace, regardless of its energy source, should be looked at each year to ensure clean, safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
Q: What about my dryer vent?
A: Each year, about 13,000 household fires are caused by clothes dryers (Source Good Housekeeping June 1997).
Chinook Power-Vac is available to inspect, and if necessary, clean dryer vents at the same time we are cleaning your ductwork for a small additional fee.
Cleaning your dryer exhaust duct is an important service.
The service is often over looked and can cause water damage, possible fire hazard, health risk, higher electrical costs, damage to your clothes dryer and a waste of your valuable time waiting for your clothes to dry.
